My name is Alex Sheppard, and I am an emerging photographer in the North Essex area. I currently live in Colchester, but have also lived in the Tendring area, and still have strong family ties to it.

 

I was raised on the Hampshire/Wiltshire border, until the age of sixteen, when I left home to join the British Army. I was enlisted into the Royal Engineers, and travelled all over the world. I spent many months working away, in such places as Canada, Belize, and towards the end of my time in service, Afghanistan. During my deployment in Afghanistan, I was part of the Counter IED Task Force, working in a bomb disposal enviroment. My responsibilities as an individual, and as a team, were to locate these IED's, in order to make the area safe for other troops.

 

I left the Armed Forces in 2011. I have since married Stacy in 2013 (we met as pen pals whilst in Afghanistan) and have had a beautiful daughter Poppy (whom you will see many photos of!) I am also an avid martial artist, currently studying Wado Ryu Karate and Toyama Ryu Batto-Do

 

Since taking up photography, I have been exploring the world through a viewfinder. It is my passion. Whether taking snapshots of my family, or photographing a client, I always aim to do the best job possible. Photography is an art, and that's what I aim to create.
